After a wild final day of the season that saw Los Angeles FC secure the top seed in the Western Conference and Inter Miami set the single season points record, dominating the east, the MLS Cup playoffs are set. Decision Day wasn't short on drama with the Black and Gold needing a late goal to knock their cross town rivals, the Los Angeles Galaxy out of the top spot, but Atlanta United also took advantage of D.C. United's misfortune to secure one of the final spots in the Eastern conference.
The playoffs will begin on Oct. 22 with a wild-card round before the first round best of three series matchups commence on Friday, Oct. 23 with Inter Miami hosting the winner of CF Montreal and Atlanta United. Despite finishing as the eighth seed in the Western Conference, the Vancouver Whitecaps will need to travel to face the Portland Timbers. There is a conflicting event due to BC Place hosting the World Supercross Canadian Grand Prix meaning that the Whitecaps will have to give hosting duties to the Portland Timbers in an all important wild-card match.
