U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Emma Hayes has unveiled a 24-player squad for the highly anticipated friendlies against Brazil this April, marking her first official roster since taking over the team full-time. Among the notable returns is Trinity Rodman, who rejoins the squad after missing previous call-ups due to a back injury.
The matches set for April 5 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and April 8 at PayPal Park in San Jose offer Hayes her first opportunity to shape the next era of U.S. women’s soccer. With several veterans sidelined due to injuries, personal reasons, or maternity leave, Hayes has leaned heavily into the next generation, calling up several uncapped players and teenage prospects.
Most notably, two teenage midfielders, Claire Hutton and Lily Yohannes, are included potentially shaping the backbone of the U.S. midfield for years to come. The squad also includes 18-year-old winger Alyssa Thompson, as Hayes looks to inject pace, energy, and creativity into her attacking setup.

"This is a time of transition, but also of tremendous opportunity," said Hayes. "These players are not here by accident. They’ve earned their call-ups, and we’re building something new.”
The friendlies will serve as a rematch of the 2024 Olympic gold medal final, where the U.S. edged Brazil 1-0. With a revamped lineup and a new coaching philosophy under Hayes, these matches will not only test team cohesion but also reveal the future stars of the U.S. Women’s National Team.
