Mohamed Salah has reaffirmed his commitment to Liverpool by signing a new two-year contract extension that will keep him at Anfield until 2027. The Egyptian forward’s decision ends months of speculation about a possible move away from Merseyside, including strong interest from the Saudi Pro League.
The 32-year-old, widely regarded as one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players, has been instrumental in the club’s modern era of success since joining from AS Roma in 2017. With 243 goals in 394 appearances, Salah is Liverpool’s third-highest all-time scorer and his appetite for success shows no signs of waning.
The new deal, which reportedly places him among the Premier League’s highest earners at around £500,000 per week, comes at a pivotal time for Liverpool. The club is currently leading the Premier League by 11 points with seven matches remaining, and Salah himself leads the Golden Boot race with 27 goals this season.
"I’m very happy to stay," Salah said in an official club statement. "This club means everything to me. We’ve achieved a lot together, but I believe there’s more to come. I feel I can still give everything, and I want to help bring more trophies to Anfield."
Salah’s decision to stay is also seen as a major vote of confidence in Liverpool’s new manager Arne Slot, who took over at the beginning of the season. Slot praised the club’s leadership for securing the deal and described Salah as a “model professional” and “world-class athlete” who continues to lead by example.
“He’s still as sharp, as hungry, and as focused as ever,” Slot said. “He sets the tone in training, in the dressing room, and on the pitch. This is great news not just for the fans, but for the entire squad.”
Salah’s commitment comes despite a reportedly massive financial offer from the Saudi Pro League, where clubs were prepared to pay him upwards of £130 million per year. However, the forward, whose ambitions include winning the Ballon d’Or, has chosen legacy over riches and believes Liverpool remains the right platform for both personal and team success.
As Liverpool push toward their 20th English league title and prepare for another summer of squad development, Salah’s extension provides stability, leadership, and the assurance that their biggest star is staying right where he belongs under the lights of Anfield.
