Thomas Müller to Leave Bayern Munich After 25 Iconic Years and 33 Trophies

Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller has officially announced he will leave the club at the end of the 2024/25 season, drawing the curtain on a remarkable 25-year journey with the Bavarian giants. Müller, 35, joined Bayern's youth academy in 2000 and rose through the ranks to become a club icon. Over the span of his career, he amassed 743 competitive appearances, becoming the club’s record appearance holder and one of the most influential figures in Bayern’s modern era.

In an emotional farewell statement, Müller reflected on his journey:

Those triumphs include an astonishing 33 trophies, featuring:

Müller’s importance extended beyond statistics his versatility, intelligence, leadership, and signature "Raumdeuter" style made him a one-of-a-kind player. Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer praised him, saying:

“Thomas Müller is the definition of a Bavarian fairytale career. Nobody has won more Bundesliga titles, and 33 trophies in total speak volumes. He ranks among the most outstanding personalities in FC Bayern history.”


To honor his legendary career, Bayern has extended Müller’s contract by 15 days, allowing him to participate in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States (June 15 to July 13). A testimonial match is also being planned to celebrate his impact and legacy.

 

While Müller has not yet revealed his next destination, speculation is mounting about a move to Major League Soccer (MLS). Several MLS clubs have reportedly shown interest in signing the veteran German international, who could become a marquee figure in North American football.
