The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) will begin their 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign on June 15, facing Trinidad & Tobago at PayPal Park in San Jose, California. The match marks the team’s opening fixture in Group D, which also includes Saudi Arabia and Haiti.

The tournament provides the USMNT with a significant opportunity to reclaim regional dominance and build momentum ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which the U.S. will co-host with Canada and Mexico.

The USMNT has a strong track record at PayPal Park, going unbeaten in six matches (4 wins, 2 draws). Their most recent appearance in San Jose resulted in a 2-0 victory over Costa Rica in February 2019. The team will be looking to build on that legacy with a strong showing against Trinidad & Tobago, a familiar Gold Cup opponent.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino, newly appointed to lead the U.S. through this Gold Cup cycle, expressed confidence in the draw and emphasized the importance of the tournament as preparation for 2026.

“It’s a good group for us a mix of familiar regional rivals and international flair,” he said. “We want to compete, we want to win, but we also want to learn and grow heading into a massive World Cup on home soil.”

The match against Trinidad & Tobago brings back memories of past battles, most notably the heartbreaking World Cup qualifier loss in 2017 that kept the U.S. out of the 2018 tournament. However, recent results have favored the Americans, including a 6-0 win in the 2023 Gold Cup.

Ticket sales for the opener at PayPal Park will open to the public on Thursday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m. local time via GoldCup.org. San Jose Earthquakes season ticket holders will get early access through a presale beginning Monday, April 14 at 10:00 a.m. PT.
