Real Madrid’s title hopes remain alive after 20-year-old academy midfielder Jacobo Ramón delivered a stunning 95th-minute debut goal to seal a dramatic 2-1 win over Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Trailing early after Martin Valjent struck for the visitors in the 11th minute, Real Madrid responded in the second half through Kylian Mbappé, who netted his 40th goal of the season with a composed finish in the 68th minute.
As the match appeared destined for a draw, it was Jacobo Ramón, a product of La Fábrica, who made the difference. Set up by Vallejo, Jacobo calmly buried the winner, igniting celebrations and offering a timely reminder of the strength of Real Madrid’s academy.
“This is inexplicable. I’ve dreamed about this all my life,” Jacobo told reporters post-match. “There’s no better way to score my first goal.”
Ancelotti Praises Youth Amid Injury Crisis
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, currently managing a squad depleted by injuries, praised Jacobo’s contribution and the team’s resilience.
“We made up for so many absentees with an extraordinary effort,” Ancelotti said. “If we had played like this more consistently, the season could’ve looked very different.”
With key players like Jude Bellingham, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Éder Militão out injured, Ancelotti turned to young talents from Real Madrid Castilla, and they delivered when it mattered most.
Barcelona’s Title Party Put on Hold
Thanks to the result, Barcelona's title celebrations are now on hold. Real Madrid trail by four points, with Barcelona still holding a game in hand. But with Jacobo’s breakthrough and Mbappé in red-hot form, Madrid are still in the fight.
La Fábrica Shines Again
Jacobo Ramón’s story marks another success for La Fábrica, Real Madrid’s academy system that continues to produce top-level talent. With the likes of Arda Güler, Nico Paz, and now Jacobo stepping up, Madrid’s future looks just as exciting as its present.
