Liverpool FC have officially confirmed the signing of Dutch international Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, shortly after Trent Alexander-Arnold's transfer to Real Madrid was finalized. The 24-year-old right-back joins the Premier League champions on a five-year contract.

Frimpong’s Arrival Marks New Era at Right-Back

Liverpool triggered Frimpong's €35 million ($38 million) release clause after Alexander-Arnold’s emotional departure from Anfield to join LaLiga giants Real Madrid. Frimpong, one of the standout performers of the 2023–24 Bundesliga season, was instrumental in helping Leverkusen secure a historic domestic double (Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal).

Known for his electrifying pace, dribbling, and attacking contributions, Frimpong registered 30 goals and 44 assists in 190 appearances for Leverkusen — numbers rarely matched by a fullback.

“Liverpool came and said they had interest — it was a no-brainer. I'm just excited to be here,” Frimpong told Liverpool media.

From Manchester Roots to European Stardom

Born in Amsterdam and raised in Manchester, Frimpong spent his youth career at Manchester City before launching his professional journey with Celtic in 2019. His performances in Scotland earned him a move to Leverkusen in 2021, where he evolved into one of Europe’s top right-backs.

He now joins fellow Dutchmen Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch at Anfield, continuing Liverpool's strong connection with the Netherlands under new manager Arne Slot.

The signing of Frimpong is seen as a statement of intent from Liverpool as they prepare to defend their Premier League title and aim for a return to Champions League glory.
