Manchester United have accelerated their interest in Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo as the club looks to reshape its attacking unit ahead of the 2025–26 season. The 25-year-old Cameroon international, who just completed a standout campaign with 20 goals and 7 assists, has reportedly made Old Trafford his preferred destination—despite strong interest from Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Mbeumo Impressed in 2024–25 Premier League Season
Mbeumo was a key figure in Brentford’s season, finishing as the Premier League’s fourth-highest scorer behind Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak, and Mohamed Salah. His pace, positioning, and clinical finishing have earned him comparisons to Salah, with pundits branding him a “mini-Salah” due to his similar playing style.
United scouts have tracked Mbeumo extensively over the past season, and the club’s new project under manager Ruben Amorim appears to have convinced the forward. Despite United missing out on European football next term, Mbeumo sees long-term potential in Amorim’s rebuild.
United Planning a Dynamic Duo with Cunha and Mbeumo
Manchester United have already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a deal worth $80 million, and are now looking to pair the Brazilian with Mbeumo to form a new-look attacking duo. Amorim reportedly believes the two forwards will complement each other well, bringing flair, versatility, and goals to a squad in dire need of attacking consistency.
Brentford Open to Offers – But It’ll Take Big Money
Brentford manager Thomas Frank recently confirmed the club could consider selling Mbeumo if the price is right. With just one year left on his contract, Brentford may be tempted to negotiate rather than risk losing him for free next summer. Reports suggest the Bees are holding out for a significant fee in the range of $60–70 million.
Manchester United are expected to open formal negotiations with Brentford in the coming days. The Red Devils hope to wrap up the deal swiftly as part of their broader summer rebuild strategy, which also includes moves for a center-back and a defensive midfielder.
Mbeumo’s Impact Could Be Immediate
With United aiming for a return to the Premier League’s top four and long-term stability, Mbeumo’s arrival could prove pivotal. His ability to stretch defenses, create chances, and press from the front aligns with Amorim’s aggressive style of play.
As transfer discussions continue, Mbeumo’s desire to wear the iconic red shirt may push the deal over the line—potentially giving Manchester United one of the most exciting attacking pairings in the league next season.
