San Diego FC has announced indefinite bans for 33 individuals involved in a violent postgame brawl that erupted following their match against LA Galaxy on May 24 at Snapdragon Stadium. The clash, which began in the upper sections of the stadium and continued into the parking lot, marred what was otherwise a spirited matchday in the city’s growing soccer scene.
Coordinated Action with MLS and Law Enforcement
In a strongly worded statement, San Diego FC confirmed that the banned individuals will be prohibited from attending any San Diego FC or Major League Soccer (MLS) events—both home and away. The club emphasized that this move was made in full cooperation with MLS, LA Galaxy, Snapdragon Stadium officials, and local law enforcement agencies.
“The behavior exhibited by these individuals is entirely unacceptable and does not reflect who we are as a Club,” the club stated. “We seek to create matchdays that are safe, welcoming, and respectful environments for all fans.”
A Pattern of Escalating Incidents
The incident isn't the first of its kind involving San Diego FC supporters this season. A similar confrontation occurred during the club’s previous home fixture against Los Angeles FC in April. That encounter also required police intervention and led to concerns over escalating tensions among fan bases in the Southern California region.
These back-to-back events have raised alarms within the club and league, pushing San Diego FC to take a zero-tolerance stance on supporter misconduct moving forward.
Commitment to Safety and Reforms
In response to the repeated disturbances, San Diego FC is expected to review and strengthen security protocols at Snapdragon Stadium. Measures may include increased surveillance, stricter entry policies, designated supporter zones, and a higher law enforcement presence during high-profile matches.
The club has called on all supporters to uphold the values of sportsmanship and respect as it continues to build a soccer culture in the city.
Looking Ahead
San Diego FC’s next home game is set to take place against Austin FC. The club sees this fixture as a chance to reset the tone and reinforce a family-friendly environment for all fans.
As investigations continue, more individuals may face disciplinary action, and the club has signaled it will not hesitate to take further steps to prevent future incidents.
