USMNT's Antonee Robinson Undergoes Knee Surgery, Will Miss Gold Cup

Published on May 28, 2025

Fulham FC and USMNT left-back Antonee Robinson has undergone minor surgery on his right knee, the club confirmed this week. The operation comes after the conclusion of the 2024–25 Premier League season and aims to correct an issue Robinson managed throughout the campaign.

Surgery and Recovery Timeline

The procedure was described as minor and successful, with Robinson already beginning rehabilitation. According to Fulham, the 26-year-old defender is expected to be fit in time for the start of the 2025–26 season in August.

Despite playing through discomfort, Robinson managed to make 38 appearances across all competitions this season, registering 10 assists—the most by any defender in the Premier League. His performance once again highlighted his status as one of the league’s most productive fullbacks.

USMNT Gold Cup Absence
The surgery also clarifies Robinson’s omission from the U.S. men’s national team roster for the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He will miss crucial group stage matches against:

  • Trinidad and Tobago (June 15)
  • Saudi Arabia (June 19)
  • Haiti (June 22)

With Robinson sidelined, head coach Gregg Berhalter will likely turn to alternatives such as DeJuan Jones or Joe Scallyto fill the left-back position.

Transfer Interest and Fulham Future

Since arriving at Craven Cottage in 2020, Robinson has become a mainstay in Fulham’s defense, tallying 189 appearances to date. His consistent form and athleticism have attracted attention from several top-tier English clubs heading into the summer transfer window.

While Fulham are hopeful of retaining their star fullback, Robinson’s performances have made him a highly sought-after asset—particularly as Premier League clubs continue to value fullbacks with attacking contributions.

What This Means for Fulham and USMNT

The timing of the surgery ensures Robinson won't miss any club matches, but his absence from international duty could affect the USMNT’s depth and tactical setup. However, both club and country remain optimistic about his recovery and return to peak form by late summer.
